Dr Tim Pittaway, a lecturer at the Department of Agriculture and Game Ranch Management, attended an International Training Programme in China; where he had an opportunity to present on South African agriculture technology and food security.
The 20-day seminar which was from the 18th of October to the 7th of November was attended by over 70 international delegates from 21 developing countries around the world, this included the Chinese government ministers and other officials from their respective Agricultural Departments. The seminar comprised of speakers from Chinese universities and visits to agricultural development centres in Zhengzhou and Chengdu. The purpose of the visit was to learn about agricultural development, the application of machines in modern agriculture and the food security programmes in China.
