As we celebrate Women in Science, Katherine Johnson, human computer and NASA Mathematician celebrated her 100th birthday yesterday, on the 26th of August. 

 

She was the 3rd African American to earn a PhD in Mathematics in 1937. She did trajectory analysis for Alan Shepard's May 1961, Mission Freedom 7(America's first human spaceflight) and received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, America's highest civilian honor, by President Obama in 2015.
