About the Forum

The purpose of this forum is to bring together the academics, theorists, data experts and industry practitioners to discuss the current challenges in data science and information technology as scientific computing is rapidly gaining increasing importance. Furthermore, all theoretical subjects will also be represented by this forum as theory is the pillar for the protection of the basic sciences, from which all applications arise. The forum will monitor the impact of theory, computing and data science on the current undergraduate curriculum and postgraduate training. It also aims to identify open sources for computing and data storage, provide platforms for sharing research ideas and computing tools (both interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary related) in computing, data and theoretical sciences. Disciplines such as pure mathematics and theoretical physics will fall under theoretical sciences. Other scientific disciplines with theoretical components will also be included. Data sciences will include, but is not limited to, areas in machine learning, artificial intelligence, data analytics, data visualization tools, and new computational ways of presenting data. The forum is co-chaired by Dr Adeniyi Ogunlaja (Senior Lecturer in Chemistry) and Dr Martin Weigt (Senior Lecturer in Mathematics).

Objective of the Forum
  • Provide a platform to the academics / researchers / data experts/ scholars to exchange and share their research work in theoretical, computational and data Science through presentation.
  • Provide opportunities for discussion and information sharing platform for academics / researchers / data experts/ scholars from various organizations regarding their new findings, technologies, and services.
  • Provide information for undergraduate curriculum development.
  • Foster a cross-disciplinary community of large data computing experts.
